Jersey Boys
JERSEY BOYS The story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Broadways multi Award winning smash hit musical, will open in
Melbourne at the Princess Theatre in July 2009.
JERSEY BOYS is the story of how four boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop music
sensations of all time. Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi the Four Seasons wrote their own songs,
invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide all before they were thirty. JERSEY BOYS features their hit
songs Sherry, Big Girls Dont Cry, Rag Doll, Oh What a Night and Cant Take My Eyes Off of You, among others.
Paul Dainty, Dainty Consolidated Entertainment said Australians will fall in love with JERSEY BOYS, which I am convinced will be the
biggest hit weve seen since Mamma Mia! JERSEY BOYS has been such a smash hit on Broadway because it brilliantly combines
a cavalcade of classic pop hits with the universal story of four neighbourhood pals and their journey through life.
JERSEY BOYS is the winner of four 2006 Tony Awards® including Best Musical. Other Tony Awards® include Best Performance by a
Leading Actor in a Musical, Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical and Best Lighting Design of a Musical. Drama
Desk Awards for 2006 include Outstanding Actor in a Musical and Outstanding Sound Design. Outer Critics Circle Awards for
2006 include Outstanding Broadway Musical, Outstanding Actor in a Musical and Outstanding Lighting Design. JERSEY BOYS also
received the 2006 Drama League Award for Distinguished Production of a Musical.
The Original Cast Recording of JERSEY BOYS won the 2007 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album and in its award
winning week topped the Billboard Album charts.
JERSEY BOYS The story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, written by Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, with music by Bob
Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe, choreography by Sergio Trujillo and directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Des McAnuff,
first debuted at the La Jolla Playhouse in 2004 and was the most successful production in the history of the company,
extending three times.
Every time I have seen JERSEY BOYS over the last three years on Broadway, Chicago or San Francisco the audience stand and
cheer, not just at the end of the show, but during the first act. This is a dazzling, behind-the-scenes look at a true story,
breathtakingly told, with one musical hit after another, said Rodney Rigby, Newtheatricals.
JERSEY BOYS officially opened on Broadway to critical acclaim at the August Wilson Theatre on 6 November 2005. Since
opening, JERSEY BOYS has played to over 4.3 million people, dominating at the box office, regularly grossing $1.2m per week
in New York and breaking box office records throughout the USA.
JERSEY BOYS will open in Londons West End in March 2008; Las Vegas in May 2008; Toronto in August 2008; with the
Melbourne premiere to follow in July 2009.
After considerable time and effort by so many, it is an immense pleasure to finally have created the ideal home for
JERSEY BOYS in Melbourne. We have the highest hopes that Melbourne will embrace this musical wholeheartedly, and that
Australians from all over the country will be heading to Melbourne to experience the sheer joy this show currently brings

Marry Poppins comes to Melbourne
Mary Poppins will become the latest blockbuster musical to open in Melbourne when the magical nanny flies home to Australia next July.
The musical, based on the books by Australian author P.L. Travers, has already proved a Broadway and West End hit and played to 4.2 million people worldwide.
The stage show features a mix of new music and famous songs from the 1964 Walt Disney film, which starred Julie Andrews, many of which have been updated.
It includes chimney sweeps dancing upside down on a ceiling and Mary Poppins flying with all the movie's animated scenes replaced with dance productions.

Super GP
fun in the Gold Coast sun at the SuperGP, October 21-24
The Coast's SuperGP may be going through its own dramas, but at least residents will be cheering for the event's grand marshals.
Queensland motorsport icon Dick Johnson and his son Steve have been named joint Grand Marshals for this weekend's event.
The naming of the pair comes on the same day it has been announced that Johnson will head a list of Australian motorsport legends in a specially created category on the streets of Surfers Paradise.
The Australian Legends category will bring together some of the biggest names and some of the most famous cars in Australian touring car history.
The category was created after the withdrawal of the A1GP cars on Saturday morning and is already proving a big hit with fans.
Dick Johnson raced on the streets of Surfers Paradise many times before his retirement and is looking forward to a big involvement this weekend.
There is nothing like the SuperGP weekend, said Johnson.
It really is unique to Australian motorsport and, as a Queenslander, I am honoured to be named as the Grand Marshal alongside Steve.
Now that the Australian Legends category has been announced both myself and Steve will be having a blast around this weekend and I am looking forward to all the other fun and activities.
Steve will be one of the most experienced drivers on the Surfers Paradise circuit next weekend, when the V8 Supercars contest four 150km events.
The 600km total will give race fans more V8 on-track action than anywhere else except Bathurst.
I understand the significance of being named Grand Marshal at this event and to be named in a joint role with dad makes this all the more special for me, said Steve.
Both Dad and I are massive fans of the Surfers Paradise event and despite its recent hiccup with the no-show of the A1GP cars, it is strong enough to survive and remain one of the real highlights of the V8 Supercar calendar.
I cannot wait to get out there at the weekend in my Jim Beam Falcon and also in one of Dad's old cars. I know Dad is as equally excited.
The Australian Legends category will be on track for one session each of the four days of the event and there will be a special parade for all the drivers and cars on both Saturday and Sunday.
Some of the legends names will include Dick Johnson, Kevin Bartlett, John Rusty French, Glenn Seton and Colin Bond and more will be announced in the coming days.
They will be driving a host of former championship and Bathurst-winning cars including Allan Moffat's famous Coca-Cola Mustang, Norm Beechey's Monaro, Ian Pete Geoghegan's Super Falcon, Bartlett's famous Channel 9 Camaro, Peter Brock's A9X Torana, Iim Richards JP'S 635 BMW, Glenn and Bo Seton's Ford Capri and Johnson
s Tru Blue Falcon XD . all valued well in excess of $1 million each.
